Choose a halter that sits close to the horse’s head without pinching or hanging loosely. Wipe dirt, sweat and moisture from the leather after use. Clean it periodically with a leather-safe cleaner and condition it as needed to keep the leather supple. Allow wet leather to dry naturally away from direct heat, and store the halter in a dry location. Regular care helps prevent leather from becoming stiff or cracked.
